Why is Weight Loss Such a Big Deal?

How I lost over 100lb

Losing a serious amount of weight can be a daunting task and most are paralized because they simply don't know where to start. Move, eat better, repeat. It sounds stupid, and many of you out there may say, been there, done that and it didn't work. Nothing works for me. Well I have news for you, it does work. Here's Why.

If you have a serious amount of weight to lose, you're in for a rude awakening. You'll experience plenty of disappointment, failures, and drawbacks along the way. Psychologically speaking it can seem impossible, as failure to stick to a workout routine, and eat better is just around the corner. However, there is good news. CONSISTENCY. This is your best friend. Approach the journey with blinders to failures, and focus on just being consistent. Start with 80% adherence to eating better and moving. This may seem high, but it's really not as hard as you think.

Let's look at FOOD. If you eat 5 meals a day, that's 35 meals a week and 140 meals a month. 80% of 35 is 28 and 80% of 140 is 112, this leaves you with a lot of room for error. In an entire week, you can have up to 7 "BAD MEALS", which is something most people can handle. The problem lies in the psychology of one who has one or two bad meals in a week or a day, and just say F it, I'm eating crappy for the remainder of the week because what's the point? Right?  However, if we focus on being consistent and neglecting our failures, our consistency turns into a nice little snowball effect that will breed success. In this video, Lanea didn't do anything crazy.  She didn't diet, she didn't work out more than 2-3 times a week, but she was consistent in showing up to the gym weekly, and simply adding more protein and veggies to her meals. We honestly kept it that simple, and with consistency and TIME, she managed to lose an entire petite person, or teenage girl.

You see, TIME is what most people can't get over. They want to look good NOW and forget that the last time they were happy with their physical appearance was 5 years ago, 10 years ago, and in some cases never.  Spending 5-10 years destroying your body has serious consequences, and one of those consequences is the time it will take to lose weight in a healthy manner, that will ensure it doesn't come back for good. So 1 - 3 years of hard work is reasonable when losing substantial weight when it took someone 5-10 years to put it on.  There are certainly faster ways of shedding weight, and unless it's a life or death situation, I don't consider them to be acceptable.
